Jonathon and Syndel-Ybor City

Hello from a still cool Tampa Florida. Today was pretty dreary, a good day to finally finish up all my work for the term! Friday I did a photo shoot with neighbors and fellow college students Johnathon and Syndel. We went to Ybor City and had a great time as you can probably tell. There are so many cool backdrops in Ybor, we barely scratched the surface before it got dark.

We used an alley with graffiti and the railroad tracks as back drops as the sun began to set. Jonathon brought a variety of ensembles my favorite being the one with the top hat so much fun!

Syndel also wore a hat for some shots and looks beautiful!

After the shoot we got some 'Alaskan Tacos' at a popular restaurant in Ybor that has really fun decor. I would really love to shoot somebody inside of there some time. Hope to be returning to Ybor to take more pics over my break. Tomorrow will share a few more of the images I turned in for my commercial final. Thanks again Jonathon and Syndel for helping me out with my portfolio you guys were great!

Variations on a theme: White Rose

I love flowers, flowers and puppies are two of my favorite things in the world. Strangely enough though there are is an amazing variety of trees and plants that grow naturally here in Tampa, you don't see as many beautiful flowers around. One of my assignments for my commercial photography class was to come up with a photograph that goes with the term 'sensual'. I bought a dozen beautiful white roses and was originally going to photograph them together with some Godiva truffles and red satin. However I just was not happy with the way those photos were turning out.
I started to think just photographing a rose itself would work and the closer I got with my macro lens the better the photos until I struck gold. I found something, haunting and sensual about the swirling of the petals. It also makes me think of white chocolate being swirled around. Ended up with some of my favorite photos ever. These have inspired me to want to do a series of macro flower shots I will begin working on soon.
Hope to be able to post some shots from the shoot I did in Ybor City yesterday tomorrow or Monday.

Annie

Wow it has been a while since I have posted! The last few weeks have been very hectic with school I was buried under a ton of homework. It will be my belated New Years Resolution to post SOMETHING on here every day very soon. I have several sets of photos to put up and next term will be shooting for portfolio and doing all the things necessary to truly launch my business!
Last weekend I had the honor of photographing my neighbor Annie. When I met her I had the feeling she would photograph beautifully and I was right. We had a fantastic time wandering around the lake here and I think I got some of my best portraits ever!

This photo was taken of Annie sitting in a beautiful moss covered tree that is in front of my building. I now want to put everyone I photograph her up in that tree just something magical about it

I finally feel like I am really seeing backgrounds popular, this one is beautiful. Things are looking more 'winterlike' than usual here in Tampa due to some evenings of freezing temperatures. It actually looks like fall up north here in the background
.

I love love love this profile shot. At this point in the shoot the sun was starting to go down and we began using a reflector to improve the light

Beautiful light, beautiful girl.

Annies boyfriend Glen came along to help. We used a gold reflector and I loved the results, beautiful golden light provides an instant suntan!

Finally my favorite. I simply love the dreamy look on her face. I will be photography Annie again in the future for my portfolio. Stay tuned for more photos of her.
Tomorrow I hope to post a series of macro shots I took of a white rose. Used one for my 'sensual' shot for commercial class. I love these photos and can't wait to share them.
